Souper Bowl Party- A Round Up of 40+ AIP Soups, Stews, Chilis & Curries
No, the title isn’t a typo. I know some of you saw it and thought of the ‘super bowl,’ but this post is about having a SOUPer BOWL Party. This post has nothing to do with football…mainly because I know less than nothing about the sport and in years past when I have watched the super bowl, it has been for the commercials. This post is all about soup.
Some of you are aware of my love of all things soup. Honestly I think I’d be happy to eat nothing but soup for the rest of my life. Every flavor combination can be turned into soup and soup is comforting and warm and only uses one pot and one bowl and one spoon and can easily be stretched to feed a crowd when unexpected guests show up. Is there anything not to love about soup?? I think not!
A few years back I read a food blog (non-AIP) about hosting a soup swap on super bowl weekend as an option for the non-football watchers to have a little fun. The idea is that 8-10 people are invited and each person brings a large pot of their favorite soup and some take away containers. They get together and sample each other’s soups and then pack their containers to go home…with containers of soup and recipes.
I had one such event back in 2011 (see pic below) and it was so much fun. We all enjoyed the soup and we all had leftovers we didn’t cook to enjoy the rest of the week.
|NON-AIP SOUPER BOWL PARTY – 2011|
If you have any AIP (or Paleo) friends in your area, maybe you could try hosting a soup swap. Or, if you have non-AIP friends who like trying new things, give them this list of soups and ask everyone to bring one of these to share. You’ll get some yummy soups and who knows, your friends might even discover some new recipes that they like. 🙂
Even if you don’t like the idea of a ‘souper bowl party’, we can all use some inspiration for some new recipes to warm us up. I know all of you buried in the snow this weekend could use some warmth.
What I like to do, is make a different kind of soup every couple of days and freeze 2-3 servings of each pot in individual portions. That way I can have a variety of soups to pull out and enjoy throughout the days and weeks to come. It’s the AIP version of convenience foods (canned soup) that you can just pull out and enjoy whenever you need it.
So, without further ado… here are 40+ AIP soup recipes, plus a round-up of 38 more…so links to 80 soup recipes. What more could you ask for?? Maybe a fun bowl to eat it out of?
