Celebrating Easter with AIP Friendly Food and More

Easter is one of my favorite times of the year for many reasons. I enjoy time with my church family, a sunrise service on the beach, sharing of fresh foods with friends, and the sprouting up of spring flowers (not so much in the desert) … but I enjoy all of these because they remind me of the new life I celebrate at Easter.

As a Christian, Easter (like every other day) is a time to remember that Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sin and that He rose again on the 3rd day. Easter is a time to remember that I live because He died. Easter is a time to rejoice in my new life.

2 “And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb……5 And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. 6 And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.” Mark 16:2 & 5-7

No matter what you believe, Easter is a great time to gather with friends and family and celebrate new life. And, as with most celebrations, food seems to be central. But, for those of us following the AIP diet, figuring out how to make a celebration special can be a challenge. Believe it or not, there are TONS of Easter appropriate recipes out there in the AIP blog world, but I did the mining for you. Below you’ll find recipes from other AIP blogs (and a few AIP recipes from non AIP blogs) that should help you menu plan for this weekend no matter what the day hold for you. I’m eying the slow cooker garlic lamb shanks, because that seems like the perfect way to have lunch ready when I come home from church.

At the bottom of the post you’ll also find some non-food Easter ideas, like naturally dyed Easter eggs and links to ideas for teaching the Easter story to kids (my day job is a Children’s Ministry Director at a church…so you had to know that would come up at some point).

Happy Easter!
